Camillia Azimi

Post-doctoral Fellow

After training under the direction of Dr. David Raulet, Dr. Greg Barton, and Dr. Kevin Corbett at UC Berkeley and San Diego, Camillia Azimi obtained her PhD from University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) under Dr. Kole Roybal. There she developed CAR Pooling, a novel rapid pooled screen of CAR signaling domains in primary human T cells. Through these screens, she discovered the BAFFR CAR, a construct that utilizes the B cell costimulatory domain BAFFR to create CAR T cells with exhaustion resistance while treating persistent tumors such as multiple myeloma. In her postdoc, she joins the Merad lab and the Brown lab to pursue similarly innovative receptor design for myeloid cell engineering within cancer contexts.
